International Terminology Awards (ITA)

The International Terminology Awards are administered by the European Association for Terminology in order to promote research and development in the field of terminology and support future terminology activity by rewarding the work of up-and-coming researchers in the field.

There are two International Terminology Awards:

  • The International Award for Distinguished Achievement in Terminology (MA level)
  • The International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Terminology Research and Development (PhD level)

The awards are open to candidates from all over the world. Submissions may consist of doctoral theses or masters dissertations in any language, but must be accompanied by a ten-page summary in English. (See ITA Regulations.)

Submitted theses or dissertations will be evaluated by the International Terminology Awards Jury. The jury consists of the following members:

  • Anca-Marina Velicu, president (University of Bucharest, Romania)
  • Ana Ostroški, vice president (Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics, Croatia)
  • Georgeta Ciobanu (Politehnica University Timişoara, Romania)
  • Rute Costa (FCSH, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal)

  • Maria Popova (Institute for Bulgarian Language - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgaria)
  • Frieda Steurs (KU Leuven, Belgium)
  • Maria Teresa Zanola (Assiterm; Realiter, Italy)

The evaluation will be made on the basis of the innovativeness of their content and how they contribute towards further developing applied research and development in the field of terminology.
